Boat on the River - Styx

A world-famous piece with a fascinating rhythm – presented here in two versions for you to enjoy.

"Boat on the River" is one of the best-known ballads by the American rock band Styx. Released in 1979 on the album Cornerstone, the song was written and performed by Tommy Shaw. It became a major hit, especially in Europe, and remains one of the band's most beloved songs.

With its gentle folk-inspired atmosphere, memorable melody, and distinctive mandolin sound, Boat on the River stands apart from Styx's more typical rock style. The song conveys a sense of peace, freedom, and longing, inviting the listener to leave everyday life behind for a moment.

In my piano arrangement, I have tried to capture the gentle mood and unique charm of the original while creating a version that is enjoyable and accessible to play. The beautiful melody takes center stage, offering plenty of room for musical expression.

Have fun playing it!
