Today on a very special day, I’m coming to you with a very special song.

Because of the incredible and shocking events in Ukraine, my friend Hilmar and I produced a video that is coming from the bottom of our hearts.

Here is the story: Yana, a good friend of ours, is living with her family in our hometown of Remscheid since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. We and many of our friends helped her to find a new home here. They come from Bucha, a place that was hit very hard by the war at the very beginning. They had a good life there, 3 children, a beautiful newly built house, their own thriving business and then were completely surprised by what happened.

She told us a lot about this wired times and showed us lots of photos and videos that she received from friends from the region. A few days ago, her 13-year-old son's schoolmate was shot while trying to escape from Bucha. Many friends from her village and colleagues of her didn’t survived yet. Her husband is still there and the family does not have a moment's peace until he is hopefully safe soon.

This moving story has led us to publish Yana's images and footage in this video.

The music: In 1916, the famous Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych composed the folk song „Shchedryk", which later became known in Anglo-American countries as "Carol of the bells". Ultimately, the song consists of 4 notes, a minor third. I rearranged the composition and Hilmar played the drums and percussion, giving the song that extra drama it deserves. Today is not about bringing you good music, today is about compassion and the deep need for peace for all those people everywhere who are in such need.We wish you deeply having this.
