Albumblatt "Für Elise" von Ludwig van Beethoven

The famous Ludwig Song is now here again

It had been hidden in the archive for a long time, but now it is available again in all versions.

In addition to the Synthesia version, there is also a Hands-On version that I created in 2013.

The most interesting version is certainly the new 2025 edition, which now includes the simplified notation.

Für Elise is one of the most famous piano pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven. The piece, whose full title is Bagatelle in A minor, WoO 59, was composed on April 27, 1810, but was only published in 1867, long after Beethoven's death.

Origin and Significance

Beethoven dedicated the piece to an unknown "Elise." Music researchers suspect that it may have been Therese Malfatti, a student and possibly even a youthful love of Beethoven. An alternative theory suggests that the name "Elise" resulted from a transcription error and was originally meant to be "Therese."

Musical Characteristics

The piece begins with the famous, delicate melody in A minor, which is often played by beginner pianists. This is followed by a lively middle section in F major before the main melody returns. Despite its apparent simplicity, Für Elise contains some challenging passages and harmonic surprises.
