It might be you - Movietrack by Dave Grusin from "Tootsie"
“It Might Be You” is the beautiful ballad from the 1982 movie Tootsie, starring Dustin Hoffman. The music was composed by Dave Grusin, with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The best-known original version was performed by Stephen Bishop.
The song has a warm, dreamy atmosphere and a melody that feels both simple and deeply emotional. Dave Grusin’s wonderful harmonies give the piece that elegant sound so characteristic of the great movie ballads of the early 1980s.
What I especially love about the song is the way it develops. It begins almost quietly and gradually opens into a beautiful romantic melody. The lyrics express the hope that, after searching for so long, you may finally have found the person you have always been waiting for – “It Might Be You.”
For me, this is a wonderful piece for piano because the melody retains all of its emotional beauty even without the lyrics.
